Rozina began her career in fashion, working side by side with some of the greatest names in the industry. She soon discovered that her real talent lay with the abundant interior designs that support the creators of the world’s great couturiers. Designing and producing the lavish sets and events for the promotion of each seasons’ new creations, Rozina became an intricate part of the fashion world, travelling around Europe to add value to the highest echelons of the industry.
Although largely unseen by the public, her talent and creativity earned her a
reputation among an ever expanding and discerning clientele. Among other projects, she travelled to East Africa on a commission by a high-end boutique hotel company. Here she found renewed vision in blending the fashions and designs of Europe with those of the dark Continent and it’s wondrously diverse art and culture.
In East Africa, Rozina observed at first hand the destitution and poverty which afflicts so much of that continent. She became actively involved in charity work from her base in Kenya and in 2017, founded the Better 2 Gether Foundation. This is a community support NGO which seeks to break down barriers of prejudice between different communities by building awareness and trust through a wide variety of activities. These range from feeding programmes (Food 2 Street), medical support with field camps, education assistance and women’s health, to name but a few.
It became apparent that many problems afflicting people are driven by stress and anxiety, and the solution is often a matter of spending time to listen. From these experiences, Listeners RSC was founded.
Shahnaz has a mastery of food production from which she established her own catering company, Coriander Connections. She has a universal knowledge of food in all its aspects; sourcing, blending, creating, costing and presenting. She is an expert in nutrition and the application of ingredients for health and well being. She views cookery as an art form as well as a sound, commercial business.
Her earlier career was spent in senior executive positions in organisations as diverse as international corporations, the United Nations and Government and she well understands business and administrative practices as well as IT and website and social media development.
Supporting worthy causes has always been important to Shahnaz and she donates time and resources regularly to a number of charitable institutions.
For more than two decades, she was a regular volunteer in community support and teaching programmes for the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). She worked as an advisor in the Community Advice Bureau in Hong Kong for a number of years before taking on the role of Global Director for the Better 2 Gether Foundation, a charity headquartered in Mombasa, Kenya. This is a community support NGO which seeks to break down barriers of prejudice between different communities by building awareness and trust through a wide variety of activities. These range from feeding programmes (Food 2 Street), medical support with field camps, education assistance, women’s health, to name but a few.
It is with this extensive sense of community support and engagement that she has now co-launched Listeners RSC, a programme for people with anxiety and stress related issues.
